7/28/17 Ministry Updates

Hi Everyone,

My season of reflection (“SOR”) ends tomorrow, and I’ve been grateful for the chance to slow down and reflect. It was good to sit down and write out how God has been working in my life, ways that I’ve grown, areas I still need to grow in, etc. There was a lot to think about (14 pages worth!).

Out of my times of reflection, I decided to commit to the next intern class of 2018 – 2020! I’m excited to continue growing in pastoring and teaching.

Earlier this month, the LA internship staff team visited a church plant in East LA (pastored by Enrique Melendez). Their church is interested in having interns, so we took some time to get to know the church and the city. It was encouraging to see God’s work in East LA, and I’m looking forward to debriefing the visit with my staff team. We had some delicious tacos too, with homemade tortillas and pickled nopales (cactus) (see above pic). Haha, that was the only picture I took during our site visit – whoops. Please pray for our discernment process as we consider placing interns at this new site. Pray that God leads us as we discuss whether or not East LA is a good fit for future interns.

This summer, I’ve enjoyed hanging out with people from my Home Fellowship! In the photo above, we got shakes from In-N-Out and watched the planes land at LAX. 🙂 Please pray for our group as we start up again on August 18th. Pray that our group is a place where neighbors feel welcome and like they belong.

We went on a fun and relaxing staff retreat to San Diego! The photo above is at Torrey Pines State Reserve, which is absolutely beautiful if you’ve never been.

ID Consultation 2017

Last week, I was at our Internship Department Consultation, which was a time of training for all internship staff (LA, San Jose, Oakland, Vancouver). I learned a lot of material that I’m excited to put into practice with our interns!

Over the summer, I also spent a week in the Bay Area (lots of quality time with family, friends, and people from my home church), got Sozo Prayer, visited the Museum of Ice Cream & Disneyland, got an undercut… lots of good stuff.

Goodbye summer, hello fall!
