11/11/15 Prayer Requests

Thanks for praying for my first sermon this past Sunday! When I emailed you about it two weeks ago, I was in the middle of a psychological battle. I didn’t edit or practice my sermon for an entire week because I felt overwhelmed and not skilled enough. Satan was feeding me a lot of lies about myself, and I found myself fighting to remember the truth. I had the mindset of “I can’t do this perfectly, and that’s really depressing.”

We had a staff prayer day at a retreat center this past Thursday. As I was walking through the prayer labyrinth, I remembered that God wants to use me as I am. I don’t have to be perfect – in fact, I will never be perfect. Jesus is the only perfect being. Praise God that he accepts us as we are. (Side note: the sermon went well!)

Please pray for…

1. My home fellowship/ Bible study. We are studying Mark 8 this coming Friday, which is a really hard but important chapter about how to be disciples of Jesus. Please pray that everyone is able to attend and for our discussion.

2. I’m leading a meeting on Saturday, 11/21, with the Asian interns, and we’ll be talking about our race/ culture/ ethnicity. I haven’t led a conversation like this before and am not very fluent in these topics. Yay for interns who are helping me lead! Please pray for our time of learning and sharing and for my leadership – that I am able to sense what God is doing.
